Lower extremity /foot conditions and their implications on the global structure

The concept of “the body is a functional unit” has been described in various sources. This course will discuss how the lower extremity/foot relates to the global body and should be considered in your assessment and treatment methodologies.

Foot Massage

Course Concepts

The course will review various concepts including but not limited to:

  • Lines of gravity , posture and gait

  • Proprioceptors in the sinus tarsi and vestibular /ocular system

  • Horizontal to vertical concept (in the foot and body)

  • Medial (talar) and lateral (calcaneal) foot

  • Arches of the feet-MLA, LLA, transverse

  • Windlass effect

  • Bony ontogeny of lower extremity

  • Forefoot varus foot type

  • Limb bud development

  • Dermatomes

  • Mechanical axis of the lower extremity

  • PRM -  SBS and CN couple

  • Tentorium ( 3 diaphragms) and plantar fascia

  • Pes cavus versus pes planus

  • Limb length discrepancy

 

The course will discuss various common pedal issues as well as ailments that should be considered in your differential diagnosis. The relevant anatomy and biomechanics will be reviewed to help in the understanding of how to approach conditions like tarsal tunnel syndrome, plantar fascitisis, Achilles tendonosis,  tibialis posterior dysfunction, Avn within the foot, CRPS, high ankle sprain, tarsal coalitions, Spring ligament sprains, peroneal tendonopathy.

About Daryl Hochman

DPM, D.O.M.P., D.Sc.O., MSc

 

Daryl Hochman received his training in podiatric medicine and surgery in Illinois and has been in clinical practice for over 30 years emphasizing  sports medicine, orthopedics and biomechanics for both the pediatric and adult populations. 

He also has trained as an Osteopathic manual practitioner in Ontario and has been in practice for 20 years.

He has been lecturing on many topics in both professions for over 25 years.

100% refund will be provided up to 30 days before the 1st day of the course (less a $50 non-refundable registration fee)75% refund will be provided up to 15 days before the 1st day of the course (less a $50 non-refundable registration fee)

 

50% refund will be provided up to 7 days before the 1st day of the course (less a $50 non-refundable registration fee)

 

No refunds will be provided within 6 days prior to the 1st day of the course. 

 

Any refunds provided will be paid in the same method of the original payment. If not enough participants are registered then the course will unfortunately have to be cancelled due to lack of participation. 

 

If we have to cancel there will be full refund minus the $50 registration fee.
